Through USAID’s WASHplus Project, FHI 360 is promoting improved water, sanitation and hygiene practices by encouraging communities to adopt small doable actions.
This is a poster that was prepared for the 2013 Water and Health Conference, UNC Water Institute. As a national program, WASHplus developed a WASH-HIV integration kit in English and Swahili that includes a training manual, job aids, and teaching methodology to engage district public health officers and partner NGO institutions working with community health workers and communities to negotiate improved WASH practices with households.
WASHplus presented the poster and study findings (from “Marketing and Behavior Change Strategy for Improved Cookstoves in Bangladesh,” conducted with iDE and the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves) during a technical session of the Second Annual Improved Cookstove Market Facilitation Platform: Accelerating the Pace of Market Development organized by the USAID Implementing Partner Catalyzing Clean Energy for Bangladesh in September 2014.
WASHplus continues pioneering work developing a menu of small doable actions for the safe disposal of infant feces. Working with program partners, the project team further refined doable behaviors for four cohorts of infant and young children, and worked with designers to develop a set of job aids to integrate Essential WASH Actions into Feed the Future nutrition implementing partner work.
